How do you automate aquaponics systems? the first step is with an accurate series of sensors to test for things like water levels, temperature, ph balance, and water flow speed. these sensors are then run through a computer system with specialized software like this one , in order to alert you as to when something is out of balance, or even automatically fix problems.. An aquaponics automation design was undertaken to interpret the system requirements to integrate automation to operate and optimize the system. two recirculating aquaponics systems were. Kretzinger has some ambitious plans for the future, not just for his home system, but for larger commercial operations. and beyond. “automation in aquaponics,” he writes, “started out as a hobby, and has now developed into a full-time passion and a clear path to the future of agriculture in the world.”.
Aquaponics is a system that combines the conventional aquarium type aquaculture with hydroponics( plant cultivation in water) creating a symbiotic environment. it creates a ecolocogical system in which the excreations from the fish serves as a nutrient for plants, helping the plants to grow and also, the plants intaking the waste of the fish, thus cleaning the water regularly and recirculating to the aquaculture.. Modern aquaponic systems can be highly successful, but they require intensive monitoring, control and management. consequently, the automation pyramid (ap) with its layers of supervisory control and data acquisition (scada), enterprise resource planning (erp) and manufacturing execution system (mes) is applied for process control.. Programmable logic controllers (plcs) and monitoring technology have been incorporated in most aquaponics systems, but higher levels of automation like supervisory control and data acquisition (scada) and manufacturing execution systems (mes) are not standard , .without higher level automation commercial aquaponics operators have suffered huge financial losses from technical errors ..
