The auburn university aquaponics project is a transdisciplinary, collaborative research, teaching, and extension project, which includes members from auburn university’s tiger dining; food systems institute; school of fisheries, aquaculture, and aquatic sciences; and departments of biosystems engineering, horticulture, and poultry science.. Aquaponics shows great promise to increase the food supply, but there are few people with the knowledge and skillsets necessary to work in aquaponics, and there are challenges to solve before industrial-scale aquaponics is viable. it will introduce fellows to the program, participants in the research, the auburn university research.
